An easy "how-to" install an IAC on a custom EFI
application
The Edelbrock throttle body didn't come
with a GM TPI compatable IAC so I came up with what you see
below.
Above, this is the stock IAC and IAC
housing bolted to the underside of the throttle body. The tubes,
one pointed downward and the other to the right, are for coolant to flow
through to keep the Throttle body at temp. But this housing was
too big to bolt to my Edelbrock throttle body.
Above: A couple minutes on a mill and
viola, the Throttle Body Coolant portion is removed. Its an easy
cut.
I made the Aluminum plate and drilled and
tapped threads into throttle body to accept the Allen head bolts.
Bolt it all together.
This might not be directly applicable to your particular
application. Another variation of this is you could put pipe
threads into the aluminum plate instead and then route hoses from your
air filter to your intake manifold to bypass the throttle
body.
